Exam sessions are typically held on the 2nd Saturday of every other month at Temple Fire Station 8, 7268 Airport Road in Temple, TX. Park and enter the building on the west side by the fire equipment display. We also offer exam sessions at the Spring and Fall HamEXPO events in Belton.

Exam sessions start at 10:00am. Please arrive by 9:45am to sign in and get comfortable. Exam sessions may be subject to cancellation with very short notice due to the facility not being available.

What you must do and know when registering for an Exam:

1.  You must register and schedule your exam session via HamStudy.org at least 48 hours in advance. Registration is FREE. Please bring your HamStudy login credentials (user/password) with you to your exam session.

After you register with HamStudy, search for the test session you want to attend and follow the instructions. Testing fees are payable when registering for a test.

2.  If you do not already have a FCC FRN (FCC Registration Number) you will be able to acquire one on the HamStudy.org website when registering for an exam. You must have an FRN number before you can test.

Other means to acquire an FRN:
Go to FCC Registration Login (CORES), click on REGISTER, and follow the prompts.

3.  You must have a valid Email Address and Phone Number. This is an FCC REQUIREMENT! Email addresses on all official forms must be the same email address you used to acquire your FRN number.

4.  If you have a Felony Conviction, please take the time to review the qualification question on the ARRL website or the FCC website regarding getting licensed. Your application could be denied and/or delayed by the FCC.

5.  Bring some form of Photo ID: Driver’s License, Military ID, Passport, School ID, etc. Minors will require a parent to be present.

6. Examination Fee is $15.00 payable when you register for a test.

NO PHONES/LAPTOPS allowed at examination seat. They may be used to digitally sign exam paperwork after a passing grade.

Upon completion of a passing exam, and having your paperwork accepted, the FCC will email you with instructions to pay their $35 licensing fee. You have 10 days to pay the fee after you receive the email. Once the fee is paid you will receive another email with a link to your official license (in PDF format.) It is important to save and store the official PDF version of your license for future use. Also, print and sign your license and post it at your station. The FCC no longer mails licenses.
