CTARC Tenth Anniversary

Ten years ago, on the 3rd of June, the Central Texas Amatuer Radio Club was formed. At that initial meeting, thirty one amateurs gathered to start the new club. Those initial members formed the club to "further the exchange of information and cooperation between members, to promote radio knowledge, fraternalism and individual operating efficiency and to so conduct club programs and activites as to advance the general interest and welfare of Amateur Radio in the community", as stated in the Club's Constitution. Happy Anniversary CTARC! 

HamEXPO Spring 2018 & Amateur Radio Test Session
Now is the time to test for your Ham ticket!  In conjunction with HamExpo, amateur radio license testing will take place in the main building of the Expo center, on the 2nd floor, sponsored by the Central Texas Amateur Radio Club. Testing will be on Saturday, April 7th, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending when all applicants have been tested, sometime around 11:00 a.m. Since the test session is in conjunction with the very popular HamExpo, we anticipate between 25 and 50 people at the sessionPrior registration is not required.  Two forms of ID are required, a photo ID and one other form of ID. The test fee will be $15.00.  Good Luck and have fun at HamEXPO!

CTARC January 2nd Meeting Cancelled

Attention CTARC Members, tonights (January 2nd) club meeting has been cancelled. It has been decided to cancel tonight's CTARC Meeting due to weather conditions and the potential for icy road conditions later this evening. Stay safe and warm tonight at home.


SKYWARN Spotter Training Schedule 2018

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth will begin their SKYWARN Spotter training classes in January.  The complete NWS-Fort Worth Office training schedule can be viewed here: SKYWARN Spotter Training Schedule 2018.  For those interested in attending sessions offered by the NWS-Austin/San Antonio office check their webpage  NWS Austin/San Antonio SKYWARN 2018.  

NWS encourages anyone with an interest in public service and access to communication, such as HAM radio, to join the SKYWARN® program. Volunteers include police and fire personnel, dispatchers, EMS workers, public utility workers and other concerned private citizens. Individuals affiliated with hospitals, schools, churches, nursing homes or who have a responsibility for protecting others are also encouraged to become a spotter.
