FAQ: Do I need to be an Amateur Radio Operator to be in the club? Answer: No! However there is no voting privileges with a Non-Amateur membership. This type of membership would be considered an associate member. FAQ: Do I have to be involved in Emergency Communications to be in the club? Answer: No! Our main focus is Emergency Communications however we provide other services as well as general Amateur fellowship, contests & other Amateur related functions. FAQ: Does CTARC provide classes if I wish to become an Amateur Radio Operator? Answer: Yes, the club does provide classes hosted by Joe Dorn (W5VEX). There is a cost of $27.00 to cover the cost of study book and materials for the classes provided at the Bell County Communications Center. How ever family members may share study materials to help cut costs by sharing study books. There may be a slight rate change to help cover fuel costs for instructor if the class takes place outside of the Belton area. FAQ: Does CTARC provide testing for upgrades and entrance level? Answer: Yes, the club provides testing. There is a small VE (Volunteer Examiner) testing fee of $15.00 per test per person required for the processing of the paperwork. FAQ: Are there any membership dues in order to join the club? Answer: Yes, there is a $20.00 yearly membership fee with reduced exceptions listed in the CTARC By-Laws.
